WKA Karting Star Courtney Atkinson signs letter of intent for 2010 Star Mazda Championship

At 16, Courtney is proving to be an emerging star in racing. Her growing dominance in the WKA has brought her to the point of seeking funding for a run at the 2010 Star Mazda Championship. Her decision to team up with Jessica Brannam and Scott Gogan will give us a great combination of experience and maturity within the team. Jessica and Courtney will be making the first all female team assault on the Stars Mazda Championship and while Scott will compete for the Expert Class Championship.

The 2010 season will prove to be a big, but exciting step for Stars and Stripes as we pursue funding for these, and possibly a fourth driver, for 2010.

We proudly announce karting driver and business professional Scott Gogan is putting together the necessary funding to compete in the 2010 STAR MAZDA season with Stars & Stripes Motorsports

At 29 years old, Scott is currently an Environmental Driller in Olympia Washington. He was previously involved in Emergency Services work in the community for 13 years. He has been married to his wife Becky, for 7 years. Scott started his racing career 5 years ago and not only races karts but has become the Vice President and Race Director for the Puget Sound Road Race Association. Even in his love for racing, Scott gives back as a driving instructor for the Tire Rack Street Survival Driving School, defensive driving school for teenagers and adults.

Scott’s goals in racing are twofold. First to obtain the funding necessary to compete in the 2010 Star Mazda series with Stars & Stripes Motorsports. Secondly Scott has mentioned that with his involvement in Star Mazda, "I would also like to help and donate to; children's hospitals, cancer research centers and habitat for humanity."                    Scott
